Your new Mimi Eden accessory has been handcrafted by me in my Yorkshire studio using top grade naturally vegetable tanned leather from Italy.
Vegetable tanning is a centuries old traditional craft using natural tannins from tree bark, fruit and leaves. Leather produced using this method shows off the hides natural, beautiful state and retains the natural flaws and markings you would expect from an animal skin. Veg tanning is a time consuming process and can take anywhere from 5-12 weeks to complete with the raw skins either treated nin wooden drums or submerged on wooden racks in pits in the ground.
This process is much kinder to the environment than the harsh chemicals used in chrome tanning. As a result the leather ages and develops its own personality and individuality over time. This is called a patina and no two items will be the same.
To care for your Mimi Eden leather product use a soft, slightly damp cloth to gently wipe away any dirt. For occasional maintenance, sparingly rub a good quality leather balm all over with a clean lint free cloth or sponge, wiping away any excess and leave to absorb for 24 hours. This will nourish the leather and help to keep it beautiful.
